About

So, I have decided to start this blog to talk all things sports. First, let me introduce myself. My name is Chris Mehler and I am a clinically diagnosed sports addict. My love and passion for all things sports was handed down to me from my dad. I can remember as a little kid my dad coming into my room on a weekend morning and laying down with me and talking sports. Sometimes, he would pick a league and blurt out a city and I would have to say what the team’s nickname was. All the way up to his death, we watched and went to sporting events together. I have to say this blog is really dedicated to him since he opened my eyes and heart to sports. I say all of this because I think this is true with all sports fans. If you close your eyes right now and think back to your childhood, you are probably picturing your dad in some way teaching you how to love a favorite team or hate an opposing team. Sports and fandom are handed down from generation to generation. It’s like a family heirloom that is given to you to take care of and to continue the tradition of handing it off to your children. I can’t say that all of my favorite teams are my dad’s but I can say that the one’s he hated are the ones I continue to hate…and will probably hand down to my children to hate. (I’m such a great father, huh?)

So let me be honest with you all, I am a diehard RedskinsCubs, Penguins, Bulls and Virginia Cavaliers fan. I like Notre Dame and a few other colleges, but they don’t quite reach the level of passion I have for UVa. With all of that being said, this blog is not specifically about those teams. This blog is about all teams and all sports. I will try to give you an un-biased view each day. Yes, these are MY opinions but I will try to squelch my hatred of certain teams and give you my opinion of them as I see it. Lastly, I want you guys to comment as much as you want. Keep it clean but I love to hear other people’s opinions and why they believe them (i.e. – If you believe, like Roger S. Goodell, that the NFL needs to turn into a combination of the Arena Football League and Flag Football then you are totally entitled to your opinion…although I will vehemently disagree with you).

I have to say this is a great time to start up this blog, as the NFL playoffs, College Football Mythical National Championship Game, NHL and NBA seasons are in full force. I will try to bring a new post to you each and every day but sometimes, when the sports world slows to a crawl, I will not be able to do that but I will try. Lastly, I want to stay on the big sports. Yes, I will comment from time to time on soccer, golf, etc. but only when big things happen. So let’s get to it…
